Hack #1 📚 Fast and Fair Workplaces - Kim Scott ' Just Work '

Kim Scott explains that employees are over or underestimated based on unfair grounds. This injustice surfaces as biases, prejudice, bullying, discrimination, verbal harassment and physical violations.

Even in the exact same situation people from different backgrounds (gender, economic, ethnicity etc.) are treated differently regardless of their competence. The richer one may be overestimated for no just reason, whereas a minority is underestimated on immoral ground. If not being seriously harming to the employees, this aforementioned environment doesn't cultivate a "fair and fast" workspace where everyone enjoys doing their job feels therefore productive and joyous.

In the book, she walks the reader through many real life examples, including her own. She provides meaningful solutions for all the people involved: person causing the harm, person harmed, upstander and the leader. Harming actions are not only to be address but to be prevented.

The book is a handbook for everyone to co-create a fast and fair workplace where collaboration and respect is the key!

Hack #2 🖥️ How To: Home Office

Problem: Home office makes people feel a) never not working b)never getting your job done enough.

Solution: "When you are working, you are working. When you are not working, you are not working."

Implementation:

  1. Dedicate a Space for Work
  2. If available separated from others with a door.

  3. Schedule Your Day
  4. Pretend you are at the office plus leave at quitting time.

  5. Set Boundaries
  6. Let others know you are occupied.

  7. Celebrate Your Wins
  8. Write them down, create a virtuous cycle.
