💡 Background
Learning Analytics are the first disruptive innovation in the education sector for 100 years because they promise that people can learn much faster and more at the same time. The student becomes the data source. With performance data gathered at every step of the learning process, teaching can be individualised, tailored to the learning pace of each student and the content adapted to their preference. This is already done (suboptimal?) in MOOCs and there are other innovative approaches like the MINERVA project. We want you to find out what other approaches there are and how effective they are and how their effectiveness could be further increased.
Answer at least one of the following questions:
- Which approaches are there to improve teaching?
- How can teaching be more individualised?
- What technologies support the education of tomorrow?
- Can we reach a 10x learning improvement? Why? Why not?
🦾Who We Are
The Chair for Strategy and Organization is focused on doing research with impact. This means we do not want to repeat old ideas and base our research solely on the research people did 10 years ago. Netflix's CEO backs a math education program that works like the streaming service
Reed Hastings is best known as the CEO of Netflix, the streaming service that personalizes recommendations for users. But Hastings' interest in personalization also extends into a lesser-known realm: education. In 2011, Hastings teamed up with venture capitalist John Doerr to invest $11 million in the growth of math education startup DreamBox Learning.

What Amazon and Netflix can teach us about learning, according to DreamBox Learning CEO
Many of the technologies we use every day are constantly learning from us. We train Netflix in what genres of TV and movies we like. Amazon learns what we're interested in buying and when we may need to restock items. Why shouldn't the same technology address something more pressing than convenience or entertainment?

(PDF) The role of learning analytics in future education models
As with many organisations embracing data-informed practices, the difficulty for the education sector lies not in the availability of data, but how such data is made available to key stakeholders to enable decision-making for improving learning processes (Pardo et al. 2016).
