The goal of our research:
There is a lack of a dedicated viewpoint on the different nature of challenges of female entrepreneurs predicting their venture success, given the macroeconomic maturity level as a context. Our goal is to synthesize previously disparate streams of work with the following context: the country context (i.e., cross-, developed-, and developing country context) and (2) micro-meso-macro context (i.e., individual-, socio-cultural- and economic level).
Method:
Systematic literature review
Indicative results:
In a nutshell, our key findings are: women in developed countries have the choice to embark upon entrepreneurial activities, i.e., exploit discovered opportunities, but are held back due to anticipated challenges. Contrary, women in developing countries do not have the choice to embark upon entrepreneurial activities, i.e., exploit discovered opportunities, because they encounter challenges affecting them to the degree that they lack basic education, work experience, or expectations of what entrepreneurship encompasses. We have summarized all reviewed literature in a comprehensive country-context matrix.
