The Diversity Tech Tool comprises the collection, analysis and visualization of data on the visibility of female scientists.
For Data Analysis, publicly available texts and images from public coverage of universities, research institutions, and traditional and digital media (e.g., news articles, press releases, announcements, interviews, reader comments and discussions) are collected regularly and automatically via APIs.
These data are analyzed with Natural Language Processing regarding the quantitative representation of women scientists (e.g., number of citations per topic, number of image representations, mentions on panels and committees) as well as regarding the qualitative representation of women scientists (e.g., stereotypical vs. contra stereotypical representation in different topic areas).
These results are visualized and are available on our dashboard.
