💡 Background

Recent advances in GenAI allow researchers to infer psychological traits from unstructured data. Personality detection could support applications such as team composition, coaching, or HR decision-making. However, validity outside of controlled settings, risks of bias, and ethical concerns (privacy, consent, transparency) remain largely unresolved.

🦾Who We Are

The Chair for Strategy and Organization is focused on research with impact. This means we do not want to repeat old ideas and base our research solely on the research people did 10 years ago. Instead, we currently research topics that will shape the future. Topics such as Agile Organisations and Digital Disruption, Blockchain Technology, Creativity and Innovation, Digital Transformation and Business Model Innovation, Diversity, Education: Education Technology and Performance Management, HRTech, Leadership, and Teams.. We are always early in noticing trends, technologies, strategies, and organisations that shape the future, which has its ups and downs.

🎯 Topics of Interest and Potential Outcomes

  • Methods & Validity: Zero-/few-shot personality inference with LLMs; benchmarking against psychometric scales; generalization across domains and languages
  • Bias, Fairness & Explainability: Identifying systematic biases; mitigation approaches; transparency guidelines (e.g., Model Cards)
  • Use Cases: Team matching, founder/co-founder alignment, coaching and feedback, human-AI workflows

Potential outcomes:

  • Systematic literature review
  • Experimental studies (GenAI vs. classical approaches)

🎓 Profile

  • Strong interest in AI and personality psychology
  • Strong academic track record
  • Reliable, structured, and self-driven working style
  • Since we might leverage data from “The Gottman Initiative”, which conducts experiments in German, native or highly proficient German language skills are mandatory

📝 How to Apply

If you are interested, please contact Nathalie Schenk by submitting your CV, grade report, preferred starting date & short motivation statement.

Please also indicate which kind of thesis (= outcome) you are interested in.
