Truths, that should not be forgotten when thinking about becoming an influencer: Deal with devastation, hate, privacy issues and living in a world that doesn’t seem to be showing reality
Devastation
“Why is it that the Reels that take 2 seconds to make out-performs the one I put my blood, sweat & tears into?”

“Traveling is a big thing where you might go somewhere, and you’ve been dying to go there, and there’s a lot of people there, and you normally don’t have a lot of people in your photos, or you just don’t want that, or the light is going another way and doesn’t have the muted light you normally have”

“Showing up on social media won’t always feel fun and exciting, and if you feel that way, it is totally NORMAL!”

Hate
→According to non-profit Ditch the Label’s Annual Bullying Survey 2017, one in five people from the ages of 12 to 20 become victims of bullying on Instagram
“I get all kinds [of negative comments], even about my family,” “The worst that I’ve gotten is, ‘You are so ugly that you and your family should die.’ I’m still confused as to why someone being ugly should die,

“Building a business is hard, but being told you’re a piece of sh*t by internet strangers is harder”

Instagram’s measures against hate speech:
-Between July and September (2020): Took action on 6.5 million pieces of hate speech on Instagram, including in DMs, 95% of which we found before anyone reported it
-DM that break rules: Prohibit from sending any more messages for a set period of time
-Continues to send violating messages: Disable account & disable new accounts created
-People can use comment filters to prevent others from leaving offensive comments (Words, phrases, or emojis they don’t want to see)
-Feature to manage multiple unwanted comments in one go (Bulk deleting, bulk blocking)
-Using AI to warn people when they’re about to post something that might be hurtful

Privacy
While social media may seem like a great space to share your personal life with your followers, it’s important to maintain a boundary between your life as an influencer and your life with family and friends.
-Social media accounts should be official business pages
-Never publish: Address, license plates, IDs, Boarding passes or tickets, receipts
-To avoiding social media privacy issues: Foolproof password
“My mom is kinda famous on Instagram and blogging. She had a mommy blog all when I was growing up and of course me and my sister were always involved. It sucks because there's so much our there about us and it's what's gonna come up when I'm looking for a job, when I'm dating, when anyone looks up my name”
