The findings from the research indicated that, it was revealed that there were several factors that were considered by podcasters at the time of choosing a podcasting platform.
These factors included-
- monetization
- ease of use and support
- analytics
- community engagement
- storage and bandwidth, pricing, compatibility
- transcription services
- media player capabilities.
Based on the survey conducted during the research, The six factors were of utmost significance among the overall factors that were ease of use and support, which was succeeded by analytics, pricing, compatibility, community engagement and monetization opportunities.
Similarly, the findings from this research indicated that the experience of podcasters on these six factors was not positive. The that projected a low mean value for experience with the factors signified that web 2.0 based platforms these did not bode well on the key significant factors that podcasters took into account while choosing a podcasting platform.
How web 3.0 can solve these challenges?
Monetization opportunities -
- Web 3.0 based podcasting hosting platforms would facilitate peer-to-peer sharing that would enable podcaster to gain control and ownership of their data and thus monetize their content.
- Web 3.0 will shift the power from platform to content creator
Community Engagement
- Web 3.0 based platform would be decentralized and trustless implying that podcasters would be able to directly interact with subscribers without the need of an intermediary.
- There would be no requirement to seek any date, access rights, or permissions from hosting platform.
