On 01.01.2023 our research project SESiWi (Structural increase of the visibility of female scientists at universities, research institutions and in classical and digital media) has started.
Initial point
Research to date provides too few answers about the reasons and impact of lack of visibility of women scientists and too few effective measures for gender-fair and gender-equitable visibility.
Therefore, this research project aims to develop sustainable strategies to make the innovative achievements of young female scientists and established female scientists at universities, research institutions, and in traditional and digital media more visible, to anchor the increased visibility structurally, and to communicate it to the broader (professional) public.
Goals
- Investigating the reasons for and effects of lack of visibility of women scientists through vignette studies and surveys.
- Development of a Gender Equality Tech Tool (GETT) to increase the visibility of female the visibility of women scientists at universities, in research research communities, and in the media.
- Networking of media professionals and the scientific community to increase the gender-equal visibility of female scientists in the public the public.
- Organizing workshops and conferences between media professionals and scientists to set target and cooperation agreements.
- Sustainable communication of research findings and measures to the (professional) public.

In addition, the W:Science platform offers the possibility of networking a community and provides templates for the use of the tool as well as for the goal and cooperation agreements.
