Web3 opportunities are huge and the big corporations do not want to miss out. RTFKT, the web3 startup selling virtual sneakers recently was acquired by Nike https://news.nike.com/news/nike-acquires-rtfkt. Together they will try to leverage cutting-edge innovation to deliver next-generation collectibles that merge culture and gaming. Other brands are approaching the topic differently, for example by buying digital land in metaverses like The Sandbox or Decentraland. Prominent examples include JP Morgan, Samsung, and Adidas. Some also partner with web3 native projects like the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). But the opportunities go far beyond this. Web3 has huge marketing potential for both corporates and everyone else. The Chair for Strategy and Organization is focused on research with impact. This means we do not want to repeat old ideas and base our research solely on the research people did 10 years ago. Instead, we currently research topics that will shape the future. Topics such as Agile Organizations and Digital Disruption, Blockchain Technology, Creativity and Innovation, Digital Transformation and Business Model Innovation, Diversity, Education: Education Technology and Performance Management, HRTech, Leadership, and Teams. We are always early in noticing trends, technologies, strategies, and organizations that shape the future, which has its ups and downs.
