RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am interested in the effect of incentive systems and motivational factors on the performance of employees. In the BMBF projects "Pay Professors for Performance?! (P³)" and "The Many Faces of Academic Success (FAceS)" I focus on whether professors should be paid for performance and in particular I try to investigate which incentives are appropriate in knowledge-intensive organizations. Another area I'm interested in, is (strategic) decision making and the phenomenon of Escalation of Commitment in regard to self-regulatory processes and goal pursuit. Besides that I'm interested in flow-experiences as a form of intrinsic motivation, as well as customer loyalty strategies in the Internet.
